Master of Science in Teaching major in:
Biology (MSTBIO), Chemistry (MSTCHEM), Mathematics (MSTMATH) & Physics (MSTPHY)
The MST programs are the thesis track master鈥檚 programs offered by the Science Education Department. The aim of these programs is not only to enhance the student鈥檚 content and technical knowledge (in biology, chemistry, mathematics, or physics) but also improve his/her research skills as well. A graduate of any of these programs is able to apply the current accepted knowledge to particular education problems through research. The proficient roster of faculty members from the College of Education handles the pedagogical aspect of the program while the specialists from the College of Science teach the major courses.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
1. Bachelor鈥檚 Degree with 20 units in the discipline the applicant intends to specialize in.
2. Grade point average of 2 (B-) or above in the undergraduate major field of study.
3. Passing mark in the Graduate Admission Test.
4. Successful interview with the department chair.

Written Comprehensive Examination
The WCE is the final check on the student鈥檚 competency in both pedagogy and his/her major field. Hence, the student takes the WCE in two tranches: the first part is on pedagogical knowledge and the second part is on the content knowledge.
Research Publication
The student must have at least 1 research publication in an international or national refereed journal within residency in the program. This publication must indicate 开元真人 as institutional affiliation.

The first part of an intensive English academic reading and writing course focuses on the review of basic reading and writing skills and their application in the preparation of short academic papers such as definitions and descriptions, and non-prose forms.
