Laboratories in the Mechanical Engineering Department
The ME Department maintains (4) laboratories which cater to the needs of the laboratory courses and researches of the students and faculty members. The Miguel Building houses the Power and thermodynamics laboratory and Foundry Laboratory. The machine shop is located at Velasco building. Lastly, the mechatronics laboratory is in STRC. Equipment, tools, and apparatus of each laboratory are sufficient for the instructional and research purposes of the program. The department ensures that the equipment is adequate for the students and readily available when needed. The maximum number of students for each laboratory class is 25. Laboratory technicians are available to assist the laboratory instructor and the students during the conduct of the laboratory class and in the operation of major equipment. For cases where laboratory equipment/apparatus/tools are needed in research testing done outside ¿ªÔªÕæÈË campus, the department allows the borrowing of these items. Research activities including thesis can be done in the laboratories.

Machine Shop and Foundry Works | Students from Gokongwei College of Engineering do their basic machine shop classes in this Laboratory. The laboratory has bench vises and wide variety of tools for handling wood and metal craft. The laboratory has various fabrication equipment such as lathe machine, drill press, welding equipment and others. The machine shop and foundry works is well ventilated and have enough room space where students can work on their craft projects. | Velasco 105A and Miguel Building M107 / M108 |
Mechatronics | This Laboratory caters to the practical application of theory in Control Systems. It has basic equipment ranging from pneumatics, PLC, robotic arm, CNC machine, 3dprinting and others. It helps the student visualize and learn the use of electronics to various mechanical control. | STRC Building room 105 |
Power and Thermodynamics Laboratory / Refrigeration | It is being used by Mechanical and other engineering students such as Chemical and Civil Engineering for their Laboratory Subjects. It has two lecture rooms and has a large open area for Mechanical equipment. Experiments perform in the Laboratory are Basic Thermodynamic Properties, Fuels and Combustion, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, Fluid Movers, Pumps, Turbines, Fans, Refrigeration Training Equipment and mini a Steam Powerplant , steam boiler, cooling tower, condenser, piping system and etc. | Miguel Ground Floor and Velasco 102D |
