Dr. Marites M. Tiongco

Full Professor

Dr. Marites M. Tiongco is a Full Professor at the Carlos L. Tiu School of Economics at the ¿ªÔªÕæÈËin Manila, Philippines. Notably, she served as Dean of the School of Economics from May 2015 to September 2021, contributing significantly to its academic leadership. She is an active member of the Board of Trustees of the Philippine Economic Society (2021-2025), and served as Treasurer in 2022-2023,Vice President in 2024, and as President in 2025. She also sits in the Board of Trustees of the Philippine Academic Society for Climate and Disaster Resilience and serves as Treasurer. Adding to her impressive portfolio, she served as Associate Editor for eight years of the ¿ªÔªÕæÈË Business and Economics Review, a prominent academic journal listed in SciVerse Scopus and abstracted and indexed in EBSCO and the Asean Citation Index (ACI). Driven by a passion for evidence-based research that has a societal impact, her research work focuses on human capital development including gender issues, poverty and inequality, job mismatch and labor market outcomes, and on the economics of agricultural development with emphasis on critical natural resources and policy issues as they affect food security, food and water safety along the value chain, market access of smallholder crop and livestock producers, agricultural health and productivity, climate change mitigation, adaptation, and resilience, and environmental sustainability.
