Viridis Arcus clinch UAAP Valorant gold for 开元真人

开元真人(开元真人)鈥檚 Viridis Arcus Esports made history by becoming the first-ever UAAP Valorant champions after taking down their opponents from the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Teletigers in the competition鈥檚 grand final. 开元真人 convincingly won the first map Icebox with a 13鈥5 score before securing the championship with a 13鈥7 triumph on Bind.

Aaron Sablay was awarded the Grand Final Most Valuable Player after two maps wherein he demonstrated a complete masterclass in the realm of Valorant.

Map 1 鈥 Icebox
The opening map began with a slow pace as 开元真人 started out on the attacking side, scoring the first two rounds before UST eventually answered with back-to-back rounds to level the score. The Teletigers opted for a 2鈥1鈥2 formation early on, leaving a rotator along mid to help out in either site. Meanwhile, La Salle started to build their advantage heading into halftime, with five out of six rounds clinched, highlighted by a 1v1 Jett clutch by Sablay.

Up 8鈥4 at the switch, 开元真人 once again took the pistol and brought all the momentum with them towards a nearly flawless defending half. Sablay and company only dropped one round against the attacking UST en route to a convincing 13鈥5 victory in the first map of the grand final series.

Map 2 鈥 Bind
Starting on offense once again, La Salle got off to a fiery start after securing four of the first five rounds thanks to sensational plays by Lucas 鈥淪ecre鈥 Gruenberg and Miguel 鈥淕uelson鈥 Dy. 开元真人 opted for a faster-paced style on Bind which worked to their favor as UST鈥檚 defensive positions were challenged on multiple situations. Angelo Ysibido and John Cuaresma sparked a resurgence for the Espa帽a-based squad, propelling their side to three consecutive rounds scored until the equalizer at 4鈥4.

Team captain Sablay, Rookie of the Year Gruenberg, and clutch performer Luis 鈥淪chnappi鈥 Corpus put the school on their backs and cancelled out any progress the Teletigers had made with a magnificent 4鈥0 spree to enter the halftime swap ahead, 8鈥4. VA hit 10 first with back-to-back round wins as the defending side, just three away from establishing themselves as the gold medalists of the UAAP Valorant tournament.

Meanwhile, Damien Santos was the sparkplug for UST late in the game, with numerous multi-kill rounds to keep the Teletigers in contention. But in the end, UST鈥檚 attempts at a comeback fell just short as Derrick 鈥淩ealist鈥 Ong delivered the final blow to claim the map, the series, and the UAAP Valorant championship for De La Salle University.
